Surabi Bandung

Maybe it's oke to call it a traditional Sundanese pancake. The ingredients are almost similar anyway. It is made from flour, but normally they use rice flour. Then it is mixed with coconut milk. The way of cooking it is to pour the ingredients onto the bowl made of clay, and heat it on top of a traditional stove. The fuel they use to make the fire is using coal. If not, they also use firewood (often taken from the ruin of the bankrupt food stall nextdoor.)

So far, do you think it already comes closer to a pancake? Well, the other difference is probably on the topping choice. For the spicy one, they use a mix of oncom (made of fermented soy bean) and chili. But you can also try to pour the surabi with sweet liquid palm sugar. Sounds delicious? So, where can you find them in Bandung?
